Advisory Board Meets in Denver for National Convention Agenda Planning Session

 

New Orleans, LA 7/22/03--The Sign Biz Advisory Board met July 21-22, 2001 at the Le Meridien, New Orleans, LA. Following are highlights  of Minutes of the Sign Biz® Advisory Board Meeting.

Present: Dennis Anderson, Peter & Kate Bates, Fred Barbaria, Myriam Ceballos, Jon Hoffman, Linda Levitan, Gloria & Dan McDavitt, Bill & Fran Potts, Michael Quigley, Steve Scalph, Paul Strauch, Clyde & Alice Willis, Teresa Young. Absent: Sue Callinan, Kelly Singer, Larry & Audrey Maschino, Peter Wolf Meeting commenced at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2001 with brief general business: · Michael Quigley was ratified to sit as an AB Member for the Southeast Region, in place of Paul Williams, who now sits on the Sign Biz Corporate Advisory Panel. · Steve Scalph was formally welcomed and received his plaque as the new Advisory Board Member for the Central region. 1: First Agenda Item-- The Reunion at Sea Sign Biz National Convention 2002:

Each Regional Board Member to solicit ideas, responses to OSW proposals from regional members (see below). · Cocktail party proposals presented by Peter Bates:

The Cruise schedule as it related to cocktail party was discussed: o On Tuesday, 1/22 the ship arrives in Nassau at 7:00 AM o Wednesday, 1/23, the ship departs at 7:00 AM. The time in Nassau can be spent shopping, visiting Bay Street, and Peter suggests a bus tour that ends at 4:00 PM at the cocktail party venue. The bus would be equipped with cooler, and casual attire is the theme.

· A total of 12 OSW's was considered, with repetition of the most popular ones in two different time slots so as to accommodate everyone, an estimated 80 people. 

 OSW's were now suggested, with specific agendas to be determined via Network queries. In addition, it was suggested that the entire agenda be finalized about three weeks in advance of cruise: · Life Beyond Vinyl: Other Technologies-What is right for you? Routing, DP, Contract work, etc. · Building Wealth: Tactics and Strategies to Make More and Keep More. Retirement tax plans and Management Strategies · Public Relations · Pricing for Profit vs. Loss Leaders: Philosophy behind pricing. It is suggested that results of Regional Pricing Surveys be distributed at this OSW as a "perk." · Scanvec Amiable for one hour. File Naming protocols for 30 minutes. · Work Flow: Special handling, file handling, order entry, paper control. · Basic DP: Proposed a long session · Advanced DP: Proposed a long session · New Shop OSW · Advanced Shop OSW · How to upgrade with minimal downtime (popular suggestion at this meeting) Technology, Mac attack, cross platform considerations. Peter Bates offered to co-present this one. · Contracting workshop · Speedpress vs. Transfer Tape vs. Weber applicator- a live test in general session 

Next, sponsors for the convention were suggested, East and West coast:

Next on the agenda: Establishing additional Regional Owners' Groups. This discussion finalized procedure and timeline for Central and South East groups.

Next Agenda Item: Regional Pricing Surveys.  A committee was established, comprised of four AB Members from different US regions.

Next Agenda Item: New Member Support Systems. Mentoring program formalized, and Live Store Training program reviewed.

Next Agenda Item: On-Line Brochure Templates. A CD featuring 18 Vertical Market flysheets will be created by Sign Biz Inc, for individualization by stores and use in marketing.

The next Advisory Board meeting was scheduled, to take place at the Sign Biz Reunion aboard the cruise ship, from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM (after Closing General Session). A brief general session discussion ensued, and the meeting was formally adjourned at 12:00 noon on 7/22/01
