Last November network members across the US and overseas voted on which business topics they most wanted to have covered at this year’s Sign Biz Reunion in Las Vegas. The most frequently requested topics became three panel-led General Sessions spread out over 2 days, April 19 and 20. The first workshop to kick off the entire program, “Government is not a Dirty Word”, covered all the bases of learning how to work with the government and other large institutions. It was devoted to illuminating how to tap into the vertical markets of school districts, banks, national chains, construction projects and successfully bid those projects.
“I’m always struck at the Reunion by the eagerness and enthusiasm of attendees,” Von Wald says.
Led by a panel of industry experts, this workshop scored a big hit with attendees this year. The panel featured Ken Von Wald, CPA, immediate Past Chair of the International Sign Association, President of Denco Sales and Silver Sponsor of this year’s Reunion. “In high demand by our Members is a thirst for knowledge about bidding large and complex projects”, explains Young. “This was the answer to their dreams. The reviews were tallied, and the program got an A+." Also contributing was Kerry Moore of MC Sign Company, one of the country’s pre-eminent “green” sign companies, servicing national accounts from coast to coast. Accompanying Von Wald and Moore were some formidable experts from the Sign Biz Advisory Board: Bob Kuhlmann, a Milestone Club Member; Bud Werner, another Milestone Club Member; and Jon Hoffman, a third Milestone Club Member.

“They’re really looking for good quality information and I hear again and again afterward, at the cocktail party for instance, ‘I always come away with two or three things that I can implement right away.’” In terms of his own experience, Von Wald reported, ”You know, as a presenter you often look out into an audience and see eyes that are glazed over. I don’t see any glazed eyes at the Sign Biz Convention. Everyone in attendance is actively engaged. They come with a high level of expectation and their needs are being met.”
"It is truly a pleasure to work with forward-thinking companies like Denco Sales, who give us tools and resources beyond product convenience, for the digital sign shop,” says Young. "They are back for a fourth year in a row, and everyone recognizes how significant that is in these harsh economic times. We know that both our Sponsors and our Members will benefit for years to come."
