When
you think about the many rewarding experiences of
creative expression
that are likely to come your way as a professional signmaker, doubtless one of the
greatest is to find that your work has been appreciated
all over the country, and
even touched people in ways you could never have
imagined.
Here is
a true story as told in the client's own words to Sign
Biz Network Members,
Aloha Signs and Graphics (Northridge, CA), about some
special "Smartbug wraps" (as
distinguished from "bus wraps")
commissioned by SBC Interactive -- Pacific Bell's
parent company...
"Subject:
SMARTbugs
To:
Hal, Roger, Ellen and Marcie: Just thought you
might enjoy an update on the 5 Volkswagon
SMARTbugs you detailed for us. The promotion is
going very successfully...consumers love the look
of the cars, and we've been getting nothing but
positive comments. The Smartbug named 'Rainbow'
is in No. California, 'Cosmic' is in San Diego,
'Daisy' is in Dallas, and 'Moonbeam' is in
Houston.
We're
getting three more
cars so we can expand the
promotion to Michigan, Illinois,
Oklahoma, Missouri and
Connecticut. We would love it if
you detailed the three new cars..."
"I
really wanted to share with all of you an experience that
I had yesterday...
I was working an event down in San Diego that had an
attendance of about 30,000
people, many of whom wanted to see the bug. As the day
went on I noticed an elderly
couple walking owner to the car, in their mid -70's. As
the couple got closer I saw
that they had a seeing eye dog for the husband . The
coupled approached the bug and
the wife took her husband's hand and began to slowly
place it on different parts of
the car, pointing out the sun roof and so on. The two
talked with each other about
how they had once had one many years ago and how much fun
and different it was
back then.
Being
the person I am I just could not resist introducing
myself. I asked them if
they would like to sit inside. You would not believe the
smile that the gentleman
had on his face. We began to talk and he knew everything
about the car! He knew
that the engine was now in front and that it is now
water-cooled and then he told
me how much he missed driving. I handed him the new key
so he could touch how
different it was...
We
continued to talk and said goodbye and as I shook his had
he thanked me again
and said he really enjoyed being there. I wanted to say
not as much as I enjoyed
meeting them, but I was just watching as the two love
birds went on their way.
I am not
really sure what I am trying to say here other than
sharing with you something that I found really nice, and as I am sitting
here now I am thinking of
the two of them and the memories they must have together.
Although one of the
two may have a disability it was very easy to see how
well they took care of each
other. I hope to someday have that when I am of that age.
Disabled or not, love was
all around those two.
Now I am
going to call my wife. Please don't forget to tell the
one you love that
YOU LOVE THEM. " --Gabe
Estrada, Manager, Internet Sales, SBC-Interactive

Roger Kameya, one
of the owners of Aloha Signs, takes a break with
Daisy, while Moonbeam looks on. He and Assistant
Signmaker Marcie
Hall with the Aloha Signs crew braved the cold
winds of December to
install these good graphic "fender
benders."
For
buyers looking for qualified assistance in the management and
development of their sign programs, Sign Biz Network Members are preferred Sign Design Professionals. These sign business owners
are endorsed because as Network Members, they receive design instruction year-round.
"We play a significant role in
promoting the identities, products and events of Fortune 1000
companies across this country and abroad, and we take this
responsibility very seriously. We’re really
good because our client’s say so. And that is the
only opinion that matters. That’s our bullseye, and we won’t
take our eyes off the target." --Paul Strauch, VP
Marketing, Sign Biz Inc.

How to tell if you are

about the "New Beetle" and wonder which member
